Country of traditions and industries, the Meurthe-Mosel region is also a land of cultures and arts.
The Meurthe-Mosel region: A tradition of creation

«Art and Industry» met in the nineteenth century and since did not cease to grow stronger. Artists used «natural forces» like iron, stone, fire and water to create modern pieces. Today's products attest the continuity and coherence of the creation which began long ago in workshops and factories.

Nancy: Inevitable historical, patrimonial and cultural center
Without Emile Gallé, there would be no school of Nancy. He is the one who invented, created, fabricated but also inspired it. He casts art in the city and makes it a jewel.

The city of Nancy is also famous thanks to Art Nouveau. The Stanislas square, classified in the worldwide heritage of UNESCO, is the heart of the ducal city. Known throughout the world, it imposes the architectural proportions of the eitghteenth century. Known as the “city of light”, its radiance does not have an equal in the field of crystal and glass paste. Daum, Baccarat, Gallé, Prouve, Majorelle, are all evocative names, with international reputations, and are symbols of luxury and innovation. City of transparence and color.

The opera, museums, ballet, theatre, and galleries are the centers of cultural gatherings. Gardens, parks, ponds, and areas bring freshness and well-being.

Meurthe-Mosel: A region of culture and art
The historical heritage offers today visits of great interest for a collective memory.: The castles of Cons-la-grandville, Fléville, Haroué, Lunéville; the glass museum in Baccarat and the faiences museum in Lunéville; the papier-mâché museum in Pont-à-Mousson; religious buildings include the cathedral of Saint Etienne in Toul, the abbey of Prémontrés in Pont-à-Mousson, the basilica of St Nicolas de Port, the church of Crusnes, and the hill of Sion.

The art of living is perpetuated through the existent traditions of cosmopolitanism and a melting pot of cultures where the population celebrates friendliness (e.g. the Italian film festival in Villerupt, festival Nancy Jazz Pulsations, the book village in Fontenoy-la-Joute, and the takeoff of hot-air balloons in Chambley).

A green region

The splendid landscapes, rivers, and typical forests are ideal for walk, mountain biking (e.g., Massif of Donon, Foret of Haye), fishing, and nautical and aquatic sports (e.g., ponds and lakes, lakes of Pierre Percée).

With «Adventure Park», sports are guaranteed and trails are found in the middle of the forest.

International events
The Meurthe-Mosel region attracts visitors from all over the world for original events. At the military base of Chambley-Bussières and since 1989, they come from the United States, Asia or Europe to fly off in their hot-air balloons.
Worldwide hot-air balloon events: Lorraine counts 67 nations, about 2,000 crews, 800 hot-air balloons and 50,000 spectators.
Nancy’s “Jazz Pulsations” was able to find a niche amongst other French musical events. A large music, cocktail event, offering ethnic, contemporary, and rock music is popular with artists that illustrate the international reputation of this event (e.g., Charlélie Couture, UB 40, Miles Davis, Michel Portal, Sonny Rollins, B.B. King, the Ensemble Art of Chicago, Ray Charles) and many others.
